Voltas Split AC 185JY Replacement Remote

This Woniry replacement remote works with Voltas split and window air conditioners across a wide range of tonnages and series codes. Compatible models include the 18 series (1 ton), 22 series (1.5 ton), and 24 series (2 ton) in both Y (split) and V (window) configurations, manufactured from 2010 onwards. Common examples: 185JY, 183DYa, 225DYa, 245DYa, 185V, 183V, 225V.

What comes in the box: one infrared remote, one plastic battery cover for the battery compartment, and a printed button guide in English. Batteries are not included. You will need two AAA cells (standard pencil batteries available at any shop).

How to use it: Pop in two AAA batteries (not included). Point at the AC indoor unit sensor and press a button. That is the whole setup.

Button layout includes mode (cool, heat, fan, dry), temperature up and down, fan speed, swing, timer on/off, turbo, sleep, and display light toggle. The remote sends infrared signals, so it needs a clear line of sight to the AC sensor.

One honest note: older Voltas models from before 2008 used a different IR protocol. If your AC was installed before 2010 and the buttons on the original remote look completely different (for example, mechanical slider switches instead of membrane buttons), this remote may not respond. Another point: some remotes sold for Voltas online show backlit displays. This one does not have a backlight. The LCD shows temperature and mode, but it is not illuminated. If you need to see the display in the dark, you will need a torch or room light.

A: Yes, if the model code ends in Y (split) and was made after 2010. Check the sticker on the indoor unit. If it says 225DYa, 225JYa, or similar, this remote will work.

Q: Do I need to pair this remote with the AC?
A: No. This is an IR remote. Insert batteries, point at the AC, and press power. It works immediately.

Q: Will this remote work with a Voltas window AC?
A: Yes, both split (Y suffix) and window (V suffix) models from 2010 onwards are compatible, including 183V, 185V, 225V.

Q: What if some buttons do not respond?
A: Check the battery polarity (plus and minus symbols inside the compartment must match the battery ends). If polarity is correct and buttons still do not work, the AC sensor may be dusty. Wipe the sensor on the indoor unit with a dry cloth and try again.
